Collection: Tatali Napurrula

Tatali Napurrula was born around 1955 at Haasts Bluff, approx 300km west of Alice Springs in Central Australia. She stayed there and attended school until her family moved west with other Pintupi people, camping west of Papunya for a short while before settling in Kintore.

Tatali Napurrula started painting for Papunya Tula Artists in 1999 as part of the Western Desert Dialysis Appeal. She has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally.

Within her paintings, Tatali represents women's ceremonies, particularly those performed in her country at Desert Bore, north of Kintore. A shy and quiet person, Tatali Napurrula’s painting style is delicate and detailed, often in a reduced palette, which creates optical effects within the work.
