“In 2014, I was invited by a nomadic artist friend, Fiona, to visit her in her newest location which was a cattle and sheep property outside of Bourke, NSW. I took my 14 year old daughter there for a week.

The area seemed to be almost like ‘cowboy country’, free from most of the normal urban rules and restraints.

I met a friend of Fiona’s named Bruce. He was an interesting local who had worked on the property. Bruce had fascinating stories and agreed to pose for me a couple of times. He is the male character in The Terrestrials. My daughter posed for the other figure. The painting is about conveying a mood rather than a specific narrative."
