'Transcendence', an exhibition of the work of Carlos Barrios will be shown at Mitchell Fine Art from the 19th October until 12th November 2016.

Hailing originally from El Salvador, Barrios has been a full-time artist in Australia for over 20 years.

With strong connections to family his subject matter includes the human form, nature and spirits. From an early age in El Salvador, he was exposed to ancient traditions and culture by his archaeologist father.

His figurative imagery draws heavily from these early influences, with his paintings reminiscent of early South American iconography.

 'Yellow Horse'

After living in the Southern Highlands of NSW for many years, the next stage of his life sees a relocation to live in QLD. This body of work explores the emotional side of this move as he searches for that harmony that unifies family and creativity.

As he prepares for this major transition he examines the basic human desire to evolve and move onto something better.
