Peter Hudson's survey exhibition ‘The Mystery of Being Here’ opens this Saturday 20th August from 3pm at the University of the Sunshine Coast Art Gallery.

The exhibition is the largest career survey of Sunshine Coast-based artist, Peter Hudson.

The Mystery of Being Here features more than 50 artworks drawn from public and private collections to investigate Hudson’s overarching interest in our relationship with the world around us.

Peter Hudson is a landscape and portrait painter who lives and works in Maleny, Queensland. Peter draws largely on contemporary Australian history for inspiration in his art making.

For Peter Hudson, regular painting trips and sketching ‘en-plein air’ form an integral part of his art-making process in capturing the the spirit or essence of the landscape.

Peter has been particularly influenced by a keen interest in Aboriginal Australian post colonisation. His paintings and drawings have a deep connection to country and the natural world.

Peter Hudson exhibits regularly, has won a number of regional art prizes, and is represented in the collections of the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory and Parliament House in Brisbane.

Peter Hudson’s upcoming solo exhibition 'Note to God' is to be held at Mitchell Fine Art from 6th September.
