Deirdre Bean - 2021 Gallipoli Art Prize Finalist
Congratulations to Deirdre Bean on her selection as a finalist in the 2021 Gallipoli Art Prize.
The Gallipoli Art Prize is an annual art prize that commemorates the legacy of those heroes who fought on the Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915.
Winners to be announced on 14 April in Sydney.
Deirdre Bean is an internationally awarded natural history artist. Her artworks in watercolour on paper and vellum are painstakingly executed over many hours.
Influenced by traditional painting methods, Deirdre Bean brings her fine illustrative style into a fresh contemporary practice inspired by the natural world. Deirdre paints her subjects closely, revealing intricate detail and perfect forms that the eye sometimes misses.
She was highly commended for the 2020 Gallipoli Art Prize and finalist in the same year for the Lethbridge Prize and the Muswellbrook Art Prize.
