2021 ARCHIBALD PRIZE FINALIST - Mirra Whale

Congratulations to Mirra Whale on her selection as a finalist in the 2021 Archibald Prize with her portrait of artist Ben Quilty.

Mirra Whale is a Sydney based artist who explores everyday, 'banal and commonplace' subjects and presents them from another angle.  Her artworks explore the formal and conceptual limits of the genre of still life.

Mirra has been a finalist in several art prizes including the Dobell Drawing Prize, Fishers Ghost Art Award, Doug Moran National Portrait Prize and the Portia Geach Memorial Award.

The Archibald Prize winner will be announced at the Art Gallery of NSW in Sydney on Friday 4th June

A selection of new works from Mirra will feature in a group exhibition in November.
