Jeff Makin painting for Landmarks Exhibition

We congratulate Jeff Makin on his selection as a finalist in the 2016 Percival Portrait Painting Prize

The biennial Percival Portrait Painting Prize is North Queensland’s own portrait competition and is held at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery in Townsville. The Prize showcases the outstanding and innovative work currently being produced by Australian artists.

Born in 1943 Jeffrey Makin is a full-time artist, art critic and is recognized as one of Australia’s leading landscape painters. Jeff is best known for his paintings en plein air of the Australian and European landscape. He has held numerous senior academic appointments while maintaining a flourishing artistic practice.

In 1992 Makin won the Tattersall's Club Art Prize in Brisbane and has been a finalist in the same prize from 2008 - 2011. Jeff has also won the Gold Coast Art Prize on two occasions.

Jeff Makin's exhibition 'LANDMARKS' will open in the gallery on Friday 6th MayThis will be Jeff's first exhibition in Brisbane in over a decade. 

Makin will be in attendance on opening night and will also undertake an Artist's Talk in the gallery on Saturday 7th May from 2pm.
