Steve Lopes - 2018 BP Portrait Award Finalist

Congratulations to Steve Lopes on his selection in the BP Portrait Award in London.   The award is one of the more prestigious portrait painting competitions iand represents the very best in contemporary practice. It's aim is to encouraging artists to focus upon and develop portraiture in their work.

  This years award saw 2,667 artists enter from 88 countries with 200 selected for the final round and 48 finalists to be exhibited.

 Steve Lopes is a Sydney based painter and printmaker known for his landscapes. He often works en plein air, painting vignettes of a place which are used as references for large-scale studio works. 

His works have been acquired in collections such as the National Art Gallery of Australia, Parliament House Art Collection, Canberra, BHP Billiton Art Collection and the Time Warner Collection in New York.

 Steve Lopes is represented by Mitchell Fine Art in Fortitude Valley.
