“During my time painting the mangroves in Far North Queensland, I spent a lot of time exploring the coastal shores.

The pandanus trees always stopped me in my tracks with its strappy, shaggy green leaves, and the older ones, brown and tangled: the bright orange seed head making a statement amongst them all. They stand as sentinels at the margin between the sand and the forests, a sanctuary for birds and insects. COVID19 has provided me with the time to get lost in its foliage."
