Bush Leaves MK17136
Abie Loy Kemarre
Size: 60 x 120cm
Acrylic on Linen
This painting shows Abie’s depiction of “Bush Leaves”, a bush that grows in the Atnangkere country in Central Australia.
The leaves are collected by the women of the Anmatyerre tribe and boiled, to extract the resin. After this the leaves are mixed with kangaroo fat to make a paste.
The paste, which has a pleasant aroma, is then used for bathing.
