Collection: Liddy Walker Napanangka

Liddy Walker Napanangka was born at Mt Doreen around 1925 and spent her younger years living with her family in bush camps.

She lived in the community of Yuendumu, 300km northwest of Alice Springs in Central Australia, since it was first established and worked in the community in various pastoral care roles.

Liddy started painting on canvas not long after Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Association’s established in the mid 1980’s and she was one of its most senior members.

Liddy Walker paints her father Japangardi’s Dreaming and her grandfather’s Dreaming. Mt Theo is her father’s country and the Dreaming’s she paints are bush tomato, goanna, seed pods, bush potato and the hopping mouse.

Sadly, Liddy Walker Napanangka died in 2017.
