Kay Rubuntja Naparrula

Kay Rubuntja Naparrula is a Warlpiri woman from the Willowra community which is situated about 300km from Alice Springs. Kay started painting in 1987 and holds great pride in being a self taught artist.

Kay paints in a minimalist style. Her detailed dot work is striking and the works often have an optical quality to them.

Her paintings portray the story of “Ngapa” (Water Dreaming) a soakage site in Kay’s homelands near  Willowra. This site provide the groups water supply, the women go to the soakage site and dig for water.
