Abie Loy Kemarre

Abie Loy Kemarre is from the Aboriginal community of Utopia in Central Australia. Abie began painting in 1994 under the guidance of her grandmother and renowned artist, Kathleen Petyarre. Abie adopted the delicate dotting technique used by Kathleen as well as developing her own unique style.

Her paintings have evolved with the masterful use of colours and bold, abstract forms to represent her inherited Dreamings. Abie Loy is a highly accoladed artist and is regarded as one of the leading contemporary indigenous artists in Australia. Her mother, Margaret Loy Pula is also an award winning artist.

The stories that are portrayed in Abie Loy Kemarre paintings include Body Painting, Bush Hen Dreaming and Bush Leaves.
