Colours of Dreaming | Kudditji Kngwarreye
A retrospective exhibition by renowned Aboriginal artist Kudditji Kngwarreye opens at the Brisbane Sofitel Central on Friday 19th July.
From the small remote community of Utopia in Central Australia Kudditji Kngwarreye has achieved international success with his signature abstract painting style. Now in his late 80’s Kudditji is one of Australia’s leading Aboriginal artists.
Likened to the work of Mark Rothko, Kudditji Kngwarreye employs blocks of complementary and contrasting colours. These works move in gradients of colour or sharp contrasts, telling a narrative of connection to country.
Audiences engage with the works spiritual nature through the movement of light and colour across a landscape.
The exhibition is on display at La Galerie within the Brisbane Sofitel Central, 249 Turbot St until Saturday 5th October 2013.
